Rich Internet Applications: From AJAX to Flex

Register

Bring your web applications to life with rich user interfaces using AJAX, Javascript and Adobe Flex. From improving the display of content to providing full browser-based applications, RIA technologies allow web developers to better control the browser experience. Pioneered by Google, Yahoo!, Adobe and Microsoft and adopted by web sites around the world, rich internet applications represent the next generation of online services.

This workshop covers rich internet application design and development. At the heart of this technology lies JavaScript and ActionScript, both of which are thoroughly explored. Based on these languages, higher level features are provided by libraries, frameworks and tools. We thus investigate Ajax frameworks and Javascript effects libraries. The Adobe Flex toolset is taught and the new Adobe AIR introduced.

This workshop combines selected material from the AJAX & Javascript and Adobe Flex & AIR workshops.

This workshop is designed for web developers and designers. No specific server-side development experience is required, but attendees should have basic programming skills and familiarity with at least one programming language such as PHP, Visual Basic, Java, or Ruby.
